Within the framework of the EU-funded TWIN2EXPAND Project, the Society and Urban Form (SURF) Research Lab of the Department of Architecture at the University of Cyprus, in collaboration with the community association “ena emeis” and the Cyprus Paraplegics Organization (CPO), invites you to a collective Accessibility Mapping activity for the Pedieos River Park, at Strovolos Municipality.

When: Saturday, 18/10/2024
Time: 09:00 – 12:30
Where: Pedieos River Park, Municipality of Strovolos
Meeting point: Strovolos Municipal Cultural Centre

Participation Form: https://forms.gle/akjg6Xj7wZWmA4Nw9

The accessibility mapping aims to identify and map the park’s routes and infrastructure to identify areas needing improvement for people with mobility or visual disabilities (shared green spaces, parking areas, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, public amenities, and restrooms). In parallel, the park’s overall quality and inclusivity will be evaluated as perceived through each participants’ personal experience.

Findings will be shared with the Municipality of Strovolos and the Nicosia Inter-Municipal Development Company Ltd (DAEL) to inform updates to the Strategic Plan for the Pedieos River. Results will also be published on the Ablebook platform so everyone can access up-to-date information on accessible areas.

What to bring: A fully charged smartphone with GPS, a power bank, a tape measure/measuring tool if you have one, hat/water, and comfortable shoes.

With the support of: the Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity Office of the University of Cyprus, Municipality of Strovolos and Ablebook.
