Iason Giraud

Iason Giraud is a Phd Candidate in computational sciences, in CastorC, of the Cyprus Institute and a researcher in the school of Architecture of the University of Cyprus. He holds a March (NTUA 2011), a MSc in the field of Architecture and Spatial Design (NTUA 2015) and a PostGrad Dip (IAAC 2017). He was a member of FabLab Athens in NTUA till 2019, where he participated in various events and conferences related to digital design, visualization, fabrication, and their relation to circular economies in the urban context. His latest research focuses on researching and developing data-enabled participatory tools and methodologies to better engage local stakeholders in neighborhood problem-solving scenarios based on the 15-minute city global initiative. His focus is historic 2n tier European urban cores and their neighborhoods, with a clear goal of enhancing local accessibility and sustainability and to provide a way for citizens to be part of the decision-making processes that affect their urban locale. To achieve that he merges tools that arrive from the fields of immersive environments with the use of augmented reality techniques, digital twin technologies, urban and environmental analysis tools, and finally participatory design methodologies to engage local stakeholders. His research brings him up to speed with the most crucial aspects of what tactical urbanism is all about, analysis, communication, bottom-up action, infused with the latest tools about how the city should function to its core, the neighborhood and providing new tools to create livable neighborhoods.
