The SURF Lab is inviting planning academics and practitioners to the first stakeholder meeting from the Integrated Planning Education (InPlanEd) project. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th December 2023, 11am – 3.30pm, including a complimentary lunch.
The event will include presentations and discussion about:
- The Integrated Planning Competence Framework developed by Association of the European Schools of Planning (AESOP) for the project. This work provides 6 competence profiles in the spatial planning field comprising a skills inventory and competency gaps of potential future learners. The framework was developed following an analysis of 10 planning programmes from 9 European countries and 90 surveys with students, practitioners and trainers from 19 European counties discussing labour market demands and the educational offer.
- Existing planning modules currently taught at University of Cyprus and Frederick University.
- The InPlanEd Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Course. This work presents the conceptual framework, curriculum and content of the InPlanEd course about Integrated Planning Approaches which will be piloted at the National Technical University of Athens and at the University of Cyprus in the fall semester of 2024. The course comprises 13 sessions covering inclusive, people-centric and climate resilient cities along with methodologies for evidence-based planning, sustainable mobility planning and participatory planning. The course will be open to both postgraduate students and practitioners.
The InPlanEd consortium wants find out about your interest in the project and how it might be useful to the future of planning practice in the context of Cyprus. We are particularly keen to hear about the challenges you face in your field and ideas about how education might train future planners to address those challenges. We also want to get your feedback about the competences framework and our proposed COIL course.
